Major vs Minor Faults – Examples
Major Faults
A major fault is a serious problem that would have stopped you from buying the product if you had known about it.
Examples include:
-
A product that is unsafe to use
-
A product significantly different from its description
-
A product unable to perform its intended function
-
A product that cannot be repaired within a reasonable time
-
Repeated failures after repair
For major faults, you are entitled to choose a refund or replacement and may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
Minor Faults
A minor fault is a problem that can be fixed within a reasonable time and does not make the product unsafe or unusable.
Examples include:
-
Small manufacturing defects
-
Components requiring adjustment or replacement
-
Issues that can be repaired without significant inconvenience
For minor faults, we may choose to repair or replace the item within a reasonable timeframe.
Each return is assessed individually in line with Australian Consumer Law.
